Create new address in a group using Extension Wallet

Here's a tutorial on how to create an address for a specific group. Sometimes this is needed to interact with dApps on the Alephium Blockchain. (Click here to know more about groups and sharding in Alephium).

1. Click on the Wallet Name in the top left corner.

2. Press the “+” button in the top right corner.

3. Click on the “Group” dropdown menu and select a group of your choice.

Optionally you could choose to use Schnorr signatures (more information about this feature can be found here). Once you’re done, click “Create a new Alephium Account.”

Create new address in a group using Desktop Wallet

Here's a tutorial on how to create an address for a specific group. Sometimes this is needed to interact with dApps on the Alephium Blockchain. (Click here to know more about groups and sharding in Alephium).

1. Click on the “Addresses & Contacts” menu.

2. Press the blue “New Address” button.

Once the menu shows up, choose a name and a colour for your new address. Then, turn on the “Advanced options” toggle and select the group you want to generate your new address on.

Press “Generate”.

Generate new addresses for all groups using Desktop Wallet

1. Click on the “Addresses & Contacts” menu.

2. Click on the "wrench" icon (advanced operations).

Once the menu appears, click the blue Start button in the Generate one address per group section. In the popup, choose a name for the wallets. Then click on the blue Generate button.

Create new address in a group using Mobile Wallet

Here's a tutorial on how to create an address for a specific group. Sometimes this is needed to interact with dApps on the Alephium Blockchain, or to withdraw from exchanges that do not support groupless addresses yet. (Click here to know more about groups and sharding in Alephium).

1. Open the “Addresses” tab in the bottom menu, then press the “+” button next to “Address book”.

2. Optionally, choose a label and a colour for your new address. Then tap “Advanced options” to expand it, select “Grouped”, tap “Address group” and select the group you need, for example “Group 0”.

New addresses are “Groupless (recommended)” by default. The “Address group” option only appears once you select “Grouped” (or “Schnorr”). If you leave it on “Random”, the address will be created in a random group.

Press “Generate”. Your new address will appear in the “Your addresses” list.

tip

If an exchange or dApp asks you for a group 0 address, follow the steps above and select “Group 0” in step 2. Then use that new address to receive your funds.

Request Testnet ALPH using Extension Wallet

1. Switch from “Mainnet” to “Testnet”

2. Click on “+Add Funds”, and then press “request $ALPH”

In about 1-2 minutes you should receive 12 testnet $ALPH in your balance.

Request Testnet ALPH using Desktop Wallet

1. Switch from “Mainnet” to “Testnet”

2. Open “Settings”, choose “Developer Tools”, enable “developer tools”, and click on “Receive testnet tokens”

You will receive 12 Testnet $ALPH in about 1-2 minutes!
